The actor of “Sex and the City” and many others Blair Underwood wrote about his divorce from his wife Desiree DaCosta in his Instagram @blairunderwood_official.

Personal life

In 1989, Blair Underwood co-founded Artists for a New South Africa, a non-profit organization dedicated to democracy and human rights in South Africa. He also represents several charitable organizations. In 1993, he was awarded the “Humanitarian Award” for his work in the Los Angeles branch of the Association of Muscular Dystrophy. Ten years later, Blair, along with actress Ashley Judd, became representatives of the YouthAIDS charity, which deals with the problem of AIDS. The following year, he appeared in an ad for the Fulfillment Foundation. Underwood is a trustee of the Robey Theatre Company, a nonprofit theater company founded in Los Angeles by actor Danny Glover, which plays performances about the lives of African Americans.

He supported the candidacy of Barack Obama for the post of president of the United States and spoke out against him at rallies. Underwood first learned about Obama when the actor was preparing for a role in “The Law of Los Angeles” at Harvard Law School, where the future president at the time was the president of the Harvard Law Review newspaper.

With the help of DNA fingerprinting, Underwood found out that he is a descendant of the Vengo tribe living in the North-Western region of Cameroon.

Marriage

On September 17, 1994, he married Desiree DaCosta. They have three children: Paris, Brielle, and Blake.

Blair Underwood has been a Hollywood sex symbol for most of his career, but in real life he’s been considered a devoted family man all along, and most recently he celebrated the 25th anniversary of a happy marriage with his wife Desiree DaCosta.
